About Ying Min

I was born in a small rural village and was the first person in my family—and in my village—to attend college.

In the 1980s, I came to Silicon Valley as a student and made America my home. I worked in the semiconductor industry for more than 20 years. I founded my own company and also participated in startups, and twice experienced the full journey of companies growing from early stages to successful public listings. Later, I shifted into housing and community-focused investment and development, becoming directly involved in city growth, infrastructure, and neighborhood improvement.

Education changed my life, and I deeply believe in its power to change others’ lives as well. That is why I have devoted many years to educational philanthropy. In 2014, I founded my family education foundation to help students from low-income families complete their schooling. To date, we have supported about 300 students.

In 2018, I joined the Shin Shin Educational Foundation, and in 2024 I became Vice Chair and Chief Financial Officer, continuing to promote educational equity and community service.

Here in Fremont, I have long been active in community affairs. I joined Citizens for Better Community (CBC) in 2018 and became Vice President in 2024, organizing community events, neighborhood support, and public safety programs. I am also a member of the Fremont Rotary Club and serve on the Historical Architectural Review Board, participating in city planning and historic preservation.

For many years, I have encouraged Asian American and immigrant communities in the Bay Area to participate in local democracy. I have organized community fundraising and civic activities to support candidates who share our values, so that more voices can be heard.
